three steps
Topic in, four posts out.
What an AI caption generator should actually do
Most caption tools hand you one block of text, a stack of hashtags and an emoji at the end of every line. It reads like every other post in the feed, because it was built to sound like the average post. A useful AI caption generator does three jobs instead: it finds the angle worth posting, it fits the platform you are posting on, and it sounds like the person whose name is on the account.
That last job matters more every year. LinkedIn's own guidance says content made with AI help “should still reflect the member's own voice, perspective, and experience.” Readers on every platform have learned to spot the generic version and scroll past it.
One topic, four angles
Each run returns four posts that take different positions on the same topic, not four rewordings of one draft. The point is to show you which framing is worth posting, which is often not the first one you would have picked.
Personal story. A small true moment and what it taught you. The angle that builds trust.
How-to or list. Concrete and easy to save. Travels furthest with people who do not know you yet.
Opinion. A clear position someone could disagree with. The angle that starts replies.
Observation. One sharp noticing and one takeaway. Best when you already have an audience.
A social media caption generator that counts like each platform
The same idea needs a different length on every network, so pick the platform before you generate:
Twitter: 280 characters a post. Twitter counts every emoji as 2 characters and every link as 23, and so does the generator. Check a final edit with the Twitter character counter.
LinkedIn: posts can run to 3,000 characters, but only the opening lines show before “see more”, so the first line has to carry the post.
Instagram: captions can run to 2,200 characters, and Instagram has been rolling out a limit of 5 hashtags per caption on posts and reels.
Threads and Facebook: no tight limit to fight, so the generator keeps these short and conversational on purpose.
How to get better captions out of it
Be specific with the topic. “Our new pricing” is thin. “Why we dropped our free plan” gives every angle something to hold.
Describe the photo or clip. The tool reads text, not files. One line about what is in the picture is enough.
Paste real posts into Match my voice. Two or three posts you actually published show your rhythm, length and tone.
Add one line only you could add. A detail, a name, a number you know is true. The generator will not invent facts for you.
Add hashtags last. The hashtag generator sizes a set to each platform's rules.
