A quote maker built for social posts

"Quote maker" means two things online: tools that build price quotes for businesses, and tools that turn a line of text into an image. This is the second kind, a quote image maker built for the feed. It lays out one quote and its source on a card you can attach to a LinkedIn or Twitter post. If you need the words first, the quote generator drafts short quotes on a topic. This page designs them.

Sizes that fit LinkedIn and Twitter

  • Square works on both. It is the easy default for a quote card.

  • Portrait 4:5 is as tall as LinkedIn goes. LinkedIn shows photos between 3:1 and 4:5 (width to height) and crops anything taller.

  • Twitter shows most single images in full. Its iOS and Android apps stopped cropping single images in normal aspect ratios in 2021. Very wide or very tall ones still get a center crop.

  • Both cap a photo at 5MB. Keep the file under that and it uploads anywhere.

Every other size, from banners to carousels, is in the social media image size guide.

Get the attribution right

Famous lines get pinned on the wrong person all the time, and a wrong name under a quote is the first thing a sharp reader will call out. Before you put someone's name on a card, check where the line came from. Quote Investigator, run by the researcher Garson O'Toole, traces the origins of popular quotations and is a good first stop.

Use it responsibly. Do not attribute words to a real person who did not say them, and do not design a card that reads like their endorsement. The safest quotes are your own: a line from your best post, credited to you, with no one to fact-check but you.

Design rules for a quote card that reads at feed size

  • Short wins. One or two sentences. A long quote turns into small type.

  • Make the quote the biggest thing. The name goes under it, smaller but readable.

  • One accent color. Use it on a word or a mark, not the whole card.

  • Add alt text. Paste the quote and the name, so screen readers get them too.

Want something besides a quote? The Twitter post templates cover stat, tip and announcement graphics.

Your best lines are already in your posts

The quotes that build a personal brand are usually your own. Media Studio inside VoiceMoat starts from your content: pick a post and it becomes a quote card, a stat card or a carousel, ready as a PNG or a PDF. audenAI, the brain inside VoiceMoat, drafts those posts in your voice to begin with, on Twitter or LinkedIn.
