three steps
One real moment in, three drafts out.
LinkedIn recommendation examples by relationship
A good recommendation sounds like a real colleague describing a real moment. Here are four short examples, one for each common relationship, in the shapes the generator drafts:
Manager recommending a report: “I managed Priya for two years on the payments team. When our biggest client's launch slipped, she rebuilt the test plan over a weekend and we shipped on the original date. She is the engineer people go to when something has to work the first time. Any team would be lucky to have her.”
Peer recommending a peer: “Daniel and I sat on the same growth team for three years. He is the rare marketer who reads the data and then talks to customers before deciding anything. Our onboarding emails got simpler, and better, because he kept asking what users were actually confused by.”
Client recommending a freelancer: “We hired Ana to redesign our booking flow. She asked sharper questions in the first call than we had asked ourselves in a year, and she delivered on the date she promised. Our support inbox stopped filling with ‘how do I reschedule’ emails. I would hire her again tomorrow.”
Mentor recommending a student: “I mentored Sam through his first year as an analyst. He takes feedback once and applies it everywhere, and by month six he was teaching our new hires the reporting setup. He will make a strong lead.”
How to write a LinkedIn recommendation that gets read
Open with how you know them. Your role, their role, how long. It tells the reader why your opinion counts.
Tell one specific moment. A project, a problem, what they did about it. One story beats five adjectives.
Name the skill it shows. Turn the story into the reason someone should hire or work with them.
Close with a clear endorsement. One line a recruiter could quote.
Keep it short. A few short paragraphs is plenty. The generator keeps drafts between about 80 and 200 words.
The three drafts this generator returns
Each run gives you three shapes so you can pick what fits the person: a story-led draft built around the moment you described, a skills-led draft that names their strengths with a short example each, and a results-led draft that opens on what changed because of them, using only the facts you gave. Choose warm, formal or concise, and switch to “Ask for one” to draft a request message instead.
How LinkedIn recommendations work
You can only recommend your 1st-degree connections.
The person you recommend chooses whether to display it on their profile, and either of you can hide it later.
You can edit or delete a recommendation you have sent at any time.
When asking, you can request one recommendation from a connection at a time, with no limit on how many you request in total.
Recommendations only display if they go through LinkedIn and both people have profiles. You cannot paste in an email as one.
A recommendation is proof. Your posts are the rest of it.
Recommendations tell people what others think of you. Your posts show them how you think. VoiceMoat helps with that second part: audenAI learns from your own LinkedIn content, drafts posts and comments in your voice, and checks drafts so they sound like you. Round out the profile with the LinkedIn headline generator and the LinkedIn summary generator, then keep showing up with the LinkedIn post generator or in Studio.
