Am I drifting from my voice?

Why use it

Voice does not collapse in one post. It erodes: a hedge added here, a flourish borrowed there, a habit picked up from whatever everyone was posting that month. By the time it is obvious it has been happening for months.

What it does

It takes two samples far apart in time, characterises each period on its own terms before comparing, then names what changed with quotes rather than adjectives.

What you get

• A comparison against your own past, never against a general standard
• The specific failure modes: hedging, abstraction, length creep, borrowed register
• A judgement on whether the drift is decay or a deliberate change
• At most three habits to put back

What it will not do

It will not produce a score from pasted posts. Ten posts is not a measurement, and a number here would be invented precision about something you care about.

What changes when VoiceMoat is connected

The comparison depends on which posts you happen to remember to paste, which is its weakest part.

• get_voice_insights Returns the Voice Lab analysis measured over your whole history rather than five samples, and on Twitter the scored Voice Guard drift read.
• list_posts Supplies the real recent history rather than a self-selected sample.
• get_analytics Shows whether the drift cost anything, by putting the change next to what the posts did.

Two limits, stated rather than left to be discovered. The scored Voice Guard drift read is Twitter only today; on LinkedIn you get the Voice Lab analysis and your posts, which is still a far better sample than pasting. Both need Voice Lab to have been run on the account.
