LinkedIn hashtags, used honestly. Three that fit, not thirty.

Paste your post or describe it. This LinkedIn hashtag generator suggests nine relevant tags in three groups and a ready set of three, the most LinkedIn's own creator team advised. 3 free runs a day, no sign-up.

Are LinkedIn hashtags still worth using?

Less than they used to be, and it is worth knowing why before you add any. In February 2024 LinkedIn removed the “Talks About” hashtags from creator profiles, and the option to follow a hashtag went the same year. A hashtag on LinkedIn is now mostly a label: it tells a reader what the post is about and helps people who search for that topic. It is not a growth channel.

What LinkedIn does say plainly is that content that feels generic or “lacks a clear point of view is less likely to be widely distributed.” A sharp post with no hashtags will beat a vague post with five.

How many LinkedIn hashtags to use

Three at most. In 2022 Keren Baruch, who led creator strategy at LinkedIn, advised no more than three hashtags per post, with a mix of broad and niche tags. With hashtags carrying less weight since then, three is a ceiling. One or two that fit are fine, and none at all is fine too. This LinkedIn hashtag generator never puts more than three in the ready set.

What this LinkedIn hashtag generator returns

  • Topic. What the post is about, like #ProductManagement or #Hiring.

  • Industry. Where you work, like #SaaS or #Fintech, so peers in your field can file it.

  • Community. The people you are talking to, like #Founders or #Recruiters.

The ready set takes the best one from each group. Swap any of them with a tap, or pick “Tight niche” when the post is for people in your field only.

It reads the whole post rather than matching single words, so a post about hiring a first sales rep gets tags about hiring and sales, not one for every noun in it. It also skips tags so broad they say nothing, like #Success, unless you pick “Wider reach”.

Where hashtags go in a LinkedIn post

At the end. LinkedIn shows only the opening lines of a post before “see more”, and a hashtag in your first line spends that space on a label instead of a reason to keep reading. Put the point first and the tags last. If you want the post itself to stand out, the LinkedIn text formatter adds bold and italic that survive the paste.

The post does the work. Make it sound like you.

If hashtags matter less, the post matters more. That is what VoiceMoat is for: audenAI learns from your own LinkedIn content, drafts posts and comments in your voice, and checks drafts so they sound like you rather than the generic content LinkedIn says it shows less. Start with the free LinkedIn post generator, compare other platforms with the all-platform hashtag generator, then draft every post in Studio.
